RAYBURN BASS CHAMPS RESULTS

Last Saturday a strong field of 234 teams competed for over $60,000 with the winning team of Ronald Risenhoover of Lufkin, TX and Charles Ford Jr. of Sam Rayburn ended up taking the first $20,000 prize with a five fish limit that weighed 25.70 lbs. Their Rayburn pattern, according to the anglers who said “We just fished deep all day in two spots, we had one just shy of 7 lbs and one a little over 7 lbs but the rest of them were just good quality fish.” They reported fishing with Bass Kandi Trick Worms and Bass Kandi Swing Kick in about 25 feet of water. Great job guys and a good day's work!

Water temps climbed to upper 50s this week before falling back to mid-50s from 55-57 degrees. The lake is again rising and has more stained water than it has in over a year. The fished really moved shallow this week but high winds and storms mid week kept a lot of anglers off the lake. Traps, spinnerbaits and weightless soft plastics worked very slowly seem to be what the shallow bass want. There are still some fish on deep points and also on the deep ditches(12 to 25') that run into the large coves. These deeper fish have been hitting a football jig (Stanley Bugeye and Odom) as well as a slow-moving Carolina rigged lizard or creature bait.
