I would like to tell you about a wonderful group of people
that you can become a part of. The Friends of the J.R. Huffman Library
exist to support the Library as a cultural and educational center of Sabine
County. Their objectives include: to create public support for an expanding
library program; purchasing special items and supplies for the library which
are not available through the regular budget; encouraging gifts, endowments
and memorials for the library; sponsoring programs to add to the cultural
life of the community; provide on-site volunteers to assist the library
staff in services of the library;collecting and selling cans as an ongoing
fundraiser; and administrating the sale of surplus and used books. You can
become a lifetime member for $100.00 or an individual member for $5.00.
They also have a business membership for $50 and a student membership of
$1.00. With the planned expansion of the library we are going to need the
Friends now, more than ever. I encourage you to join this
wonderful and worthwhile organization. Once you become a member, you can
help plan their fund raising activities, vote at monthly meetings, and enjoy
discounts at all the Friends Cultural Events. Please join.
If you can't join at this time, can you stop by and buy one of their books
or drop off all your aluminum cans to help them out?
Tributes to Loved Ones
The library accepts donations in honor or memory of donors'
family or friends. For a $100. donation will place an engraved shelf plaque
in the library or an inscribed bookplate for $20. as a lasting tribute.
