Let's go fishin'!

Why take a guided trip?
Let's start by considering the purpose of a guided fishing trip. First and foremost, the reason we will be going is so that YOU will have a good time and catch fish! We both know you are not on this trip to watch a guide catch fish or compete with a pro.

Tips, techniques, instruction: Another major reason for taking a guided trip, for most people, is to get some new tips and techniques. Some anglers are very new and want instruction beginning with the basics. And, of course, there are seasoned fishermen and professionals who use guides to just help them get to know a lake and find out about the fishing patterns. I often work with tournament professionals who are practice fishing the lake in preparation for an upcoming tournament.

Typical Trip Description           FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What is a typical guided trip like?
Rendezvous: We will meet at a predetermined place and time. Usually this will be at or near where you are staying, unless you want to fish a different area of the lake. For morning trips, we may have some coffee or juice before leaving and discuss the current conditions and the plan for the trip. We will check to be certain all licenses are in order and all tackle is in place.

On the Water: We will be fishing on a state of the art fishing vessel - whether you have selected bass boat or pontoon boat. A brisk, scenic jaunt will put us on our first fishing spot and the day's action begins!

The day: Around 11:30 AM - Noon we will take a break for lunch on shore. Afterwards we will be ready to head back out and catch some more fish. Our day will end around 5:00 PM. If you are keeping your fish, I clean and bag them for you.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Insured? Yes, I am a fully insured guide.

Licensed? I am licensed by the State of Texas and my boat is Coast Guard inspected.

What do you furnish? I provide the boat, gasoline, oil, and top knowledge of the lake. With notification ahead of time, I will also provide rods and reels. When fishing live bait, I provide hooks, sinkers, and live bait. Arrangements can be made for other special services at an extra charge - please see the Special Services page for more information.

How long do we fish? Half day trips are 5 hours - either morning or evening. Full day trips start between 6:00AM TO 6:30AM, break for lunch around 11:30 or so either back at camp or at a resturant on the water, then resume fishing until around 5:00PM.

Where do we meet, and where do we fish? We can meet where you are staying, or at another place of your choice. Our launch point will depend on the type of fish we will be going after.

What will we fish for? We will fish for what you want to catch! Bass, bream, catfish, crappie, stripers, or white bass.

Can I keep the fish I catch? YES! Generally, I practice catch-and-release. But, I will certainly be happy to dress your catch if you want to take them home. And, if you're fishing out of Louisiana and catch a qualifier (10# or larger bass), I'll help you get it submitted for their Lunker Bass Program.
