About the Artist

Linda Hobbs did her first paintings on a small piece of paneling and friends saw her work and wanted her to paint special pictures for them, thus began a love for the art. Linda discovered that she had a natural ability to capture inspirations with the paint brush, and was able to recreate a subject on the canvas with skillful accuracy and depth, mixing the colors precisely to accomplish the illusion that she could see in producing the finished creation, in her mind, on the canvas.

Since those early days Linda has studied under the world famous Dalhart Windberg, but mostly has perfected her work through experience. Her paintings have been published in magazines, and today some of her works hang in offices all across the United States, including New York, Florida, Washington, in the office of the Dupont Plant, funeral homes, banks, many executive offices, and enhance individual homes with original paintings that bring back memories of bygone days for the family by recreating scenes of familiar places and homes of their childhood days.

Linda has done numerous commissioned works, including one locally for Spears Chapel Church, for the Baptistery, when the new building was finished. The four foot by eight foot painting, Reflections of Deep East Texas that hangs in the Newton Civic Center was painted and donated to the Center by Linda Hobbs.

The 2006 Burkeville Heritage Society Calendar featured 12 of Linda's paintings.

Today she does mostly commissioned work, paints landscapes and does some teaching of oil painting.
